Announcements
Announcements let you send important messages to your whole school. Members receive a push notification and can read the message in their Today tab.
Create an announcement
Go to the Today tab (the fifth tab), open the three-dot menu in the top-right, and choose New announcement.
Enter a title. A body is optional — a title on its own is fine for a quick heads-up. When you do add a body, you have light formatting: bold, italic, lists, and links.
Optionally, set a minimum grade. Only members at or above this grade will see the announcement. As you set it, a line shows how many members the announcement will reach, like "will reach ~38 members", so you know who's getting it before you send.
Tap Send. A push notification goes out to all eligible members.
Start an announcement from another app
On iPhone, you can turn a message from another app into an announcement. Find a message in WhatsApp, Messages or Notes, tap Share, and choose C3NTR. The shared text drops into a new announcement, ready for you to tidy up and send. It saves retyping a note your committee already wrote elsewhere.
See how it landed
Each announcement tracks who has opened it. On the announcement you'll see a quiet line like "Sent to 38 · opened by 21", so you can tell at a glance how far the message has travelled. The same open rate feeds the analytics dashboard.
Edit an announcement
Tap any announcement you created to open it, then tap Edit in the top bar. The edit sheet stacks two save buttons full-width:
- Update and resend — Saves the changes and sends a fresh push notification to all eligible members.
- Update — Quiet save without a new notification. Good for fixing a typo.
To delete an announcement, open the edit sheet and tap the red bin icon in the header. Deletion removes the announcement from every member's feed and can't be undone.
Where members see announcements
Members see announcements under the Announcements tab on Today, grouped by when they were sent: Today, Yesterday, This week, Earlier. Unread announcements show a badge on the tab icon and a subtle coloured accent on the left edge of the card. The most recent announcement appears first.
Swipe actions
Swipe any announcement right to toggle read or unread. If you created the announcement, swipe left to reveal Edit. School leaders and admins can also Delete from the same left swipe.
When unreads are present, the Announcements header shows a “N new” count and a Mark all as read button — tap once to clear every unread marker.
Pull down on the Today tab to refresh announcements and events from Firestore.
Keep announcements short and focused. If you need to share detailed information, write an article and link to it from the announcement body.
