Branding & theme
Make C3NTR feel like your school. Choose your brand colour and heading font, swap the hero photo, upload your logo, and see changes appear for every member straight away.
Where to find these settings
Branding controls live in three places:
- Settings > Colour and theme — Theme (Dark / Light), accent colour, button text, surface depth, and heading font. The phone preview at the top updates in real time as you adjust each control.
- Settings > School details — School name, what you teach, school website URL, and logo.
- Settings > Hero — The full hero card editor: cover photo, logo, heading, subheading, heading alignment, and heading size. The same screen opens from the home screen — tap your logo on Home.
If you're still in the setup wizard, Step 2 covers the logo + hero and Step 3 covers colour, theme and heading font — same controls in both places.
Pick a colour
Your accent colour appears across the app: in buttons, highlights, the centre nav button, and active tab indicators. The Colour and theme screen shows seven swatches:
- Six presets — A balanced spread of cool, warm, and neutral options. Tap one to apply it.
- Custom colour — The seventh swatch on the right. It shows a rainbow gradient until you pick a custom colour, then becomes that colour with a small pencil pip so you can tap to change.
The dialog includes a hex input if you have a specific brand colour to match. C3NTR picks the right contrast for button text automatically.
Dark or light mode
Toggle between Dark and Light at the top of Colour and theme. The toggle pill itself previews the choice — Light shows as a white pill, Dark as near-black — so you can see the result before you tap. The change applies to every member's device.
Dark mode works well for schools that train in low-light environments. Light mode tends to feel more open and suits schools with bright, airy spaces.
Button text
Buttons use text over your brand colour. You have three options:
- Auto — C3NTR picks white or dark text, whichever is easier to read on your colour.
- Light — Always use white text on buttons.
- Dark — Always use dark text on buttons.
Auto works well for most schools.
Surface depth
The Surface depth slider brightens or darkens the background tint behind your content. Slide left for a deeper, more saturated feel; slide right for a lighter, airier surface. The preview updates as you drag.
Choose a heading font
Your heading font is used for titles and headings across your school: your school name on the home screen, page titles, and the headings inside articles. Body text stays the same so it is easy to read.
Open Settings > Colour and theme and scroll to Heading font.
Each option shows your school name in that font. Tap the one that feels most like your school.
The phone preview updates straight away, and every member sees the new headings.
There are ten to choose from, each with a plain name and the font's own name underneath:
- Default (Inter): clear and neutral, and what every school starts with.
- Confident (Montserrat) and Strong (Oswald): bold and wide, or tall and narrow.
- Expressive (Bricolage Grotesque): a sans with character, for creative and performing arts.
- Friendly (Nunito) and Playful (Fredoka): soft, rounded letters that suit wellness and children's classes.
- Elegant (Playfair Display), Classic (Lora) and Warm (Fraunces): serifs, from high contrast to soft.
- Sturdy (Roboto Slab): a solid slab serif.
You'll find the same choice in Step 3 of the setup wizard, and in the web portal under Settings > Theme. If your school started from a template, its heading font came with it. You can change it at any time.
Members who use a larger text size on their phone still see headings at the size they chose. Only the font changes.
Upload your own font
On the School plan you can use your own brand font for headings. At the end of the heading font list, tap Upload your own. TTF, OTF and WOFF2 files up to 5 MB all work.
Tick I have the right to use this font in apps and on the web. Most fonts you buy or download come with a licence that says where you may use them. Check yours covers apps and websites.
Tap Choose a file and pick the font. C3NTR uploads it, checks it and prepares it for every member's phone and the web portal.
When you see Your heading font is ready., tap Use this font. Your font now appears at the end of the list as Your font, with Replace and Remove font underneath.
You can also upload from the web portal under Settings > Theme, which is often easier if your font files are on a computer.
If C3NTR can't use a file, it tells you why. The font might be missing letters or numbers, its licence might not allow use in apps, or it might be a format we don't support. Choose another file to try again. If you move to the Seed plan, your headings go back to the default font. You can still remove the uploaded file.
Hero photo
The hero photo is the large banner at the top of your home screen. A brand-new school starts with the hero that came in with its discipline template, so it never looks empty before you add your own.
To swap it, tap Change Hero on the wizard's Step 2 or the Hero settings screen. The picker has three tabs:
- Photos — Your phone's photo library, plus a "Choose a file" button for iCloud Drive or any other source the iOS Files app exposes. This tab opens first.
- Recent — Photos you've uploaded for this school recently.
- Stock — Free, high-quality photos from Pexels. Pick one and it's saved to your Media library with the photographer credit attached.
After choosing a photo, tap Reposition Hero to pan and zoom so the most important part stays visible. Tap Done when you're happy.
Heading and subheading
The heading sits over the hero photo above your logo on the home screen. Subheading shows underneath in a lighter weight. Both are optional — leave them blank to render just the logo.
The justification toggle to the right of the heading field aligns the whole group (logo + heading + subheading) to the left, centre, or right of the hero card. Centre is the default and works for most schools; left or right can suit a logo that has clear directional weight.
Under the alignment toggle, Heading size sets the hero heading to Smaller, Standard or Larger. It changes the home screen heading only. If a long school name would need more than two lines at Larger, C3NTR steps it down towards Standard. If it still needs more room, the hero grows taller, so nothing is cut off. You'll also find Heading size in Step 2 of the setup wizard, and under Settings > Home in the web portal.
Logo
Your logo appears on the home screen above the school name, and as a small icon in the snapped top bar when you scroll down. From the wizard's Step 2, the Hero settings screen, or School details:
- Edit — Crop the logo or remove the background (iOS 17 and later).
- Change — Open the picker to upload a new image. (The logo picker offers Photos and Recent; the Stock tab is reserved for hero and cover images, since a logo is your own brand asset.)
For best results, use a square image with a transparent background. PNG and SVG both work; SVG keeps the edges crisp at every size.
School name, website, and discipline
All three live on the Settings > School details screen. The discipline picker uses the same inline chip layout as the wizard — tap a category to select it, tap the active one again to clear and re-pick. The website URL field is the same one the wizard uses for branding extraction; once set, a small globe icon appears in the side menu next to the share button so members can open your site in one tap. Changing the name updates it across the app for every member. Changing the discipline updates template suggestions and AI draft context.
