Setup wizard
The setup wizard guides you through four steps to get your school ready. Every step is optional and you can come back to any of them later. The whole process takes about five minutes.
When the wizard appears
The wizard launches automatically after you create a school. It also appears if you tap any incomplete item on the Getting Started card on your home screen.
You can leave the wizard at any time by tapping Set up later at the top right of the screen. Your progress is saved as you go, so if the app closes mid-step, you will pick up where you left off.
The wizard restarts safely if the app closes or your connection drops. No work is lost.
Step 1: Name your school
Enter the name of your school. This is what members see when they open the app.
Next, choose what you teach. Tap a category to select it — once one is selected, the other categories tuck out of the way so the rest of the page reads cleanly. Tap the active category again to clear it and reveal the full list.
If your category has named styles (for example Martial Arts → Wing Chun, Karate, Taekwondo), they appear in a single row beneath. Swipe to browse less-common styles, or tap Other… at the end of the row to type your own.
Below that, you can paste your school website. C3NTR fetches your logo, hero photo, and brand colour from the page so you can adopt them with a tap on Step 2 and Step 3. This is optional — skip it if you don't have a public site yet.
Your discipline choice helps C3NTR suggest relevant templates, set a sensible default hero photo on Step 2, and give the AI writing assistant context about your school. You can change the name and discipline later from Settings → School details.
Step 2: Logo and hero photo
The phone preview at the top shows how your school's home screen will look. The hero photo fills the background, with your logo and school name overlaid at the bottom.
If you didn't paste a website on Step 1, C3NTR starts with a built-in hero photo for your discipline. You can keep it, swap it, or upload your own.
- Reposition Hero — Pan and zoom to choose which part of the photo shows. Tap Done to save.
- Change Hero — Open the picker. The first tab, Hero, shows the bundled discipline photos. Recent shows your previous uploads. Photos opens your phone's library, with a "Choose a file" button on the same tab for iCloud Drive or any other source the iOS Files app exposes.
- Logo — Tap Edit to crop or remove the background, or Change to upload a different image.
- Heading — Defaults to your school name. Edit it if you want a different title to appear over the hero. The three-icon toggle to the right aligns the heading group (logo + heading + subheading) to the left, centre, or right of the hero card.
Both the logo and the hero are editable later from the home screen — tap your logo on Home to open the dedicated Hero settings screen, which carries the same controls plus a Subheading field.
Step 3: Colour and theme
The phone preview at the top updates as you adjust each setting.
- Theme — Toggle between Dark and Light. The toggle pill itself previews the choice (white for Light, near-black for Dark).
- Accent colour — Pick one of the six preset colours, or tap the rainbow swatch on the right to choose any custom colour. Once a custom colour is set, that swatch shows the colour with a small pencil pip so you can tap it again to change.
- Button text — Choose whether button text is automatic, light, or dark. C3NTR checks the contrast either way so text stays readable.
- Surface depth — Slide left or right to brighten or darken the background tint behind your content.
You can fine-tune any of these later from Settings → Colour and theme, which shows the same live preview.
Step 4: Add your first content
Pick the option that fits how you want to start your library:
- Start with a blank library — Skip the import. You can add articles, terms, videos, and audio whenever you're ready.
- Browse the template library — Pre-written content sets curated for your discipline. Templates give you a starting structure that you can edit to match your school.
- Import a document — Upload a DOCX, Markdown, TXT, or RTF file. C3NTR opens the Document Map screen where you can review headings, split the document into articles, and choose which parts to import.
You can come back to any of these later — see the Your first content guide for the longer paths.
You're all set
After Step 4, you'll see a celebration screen with a tick and a "Go to your school" button. From here you can also tap Add school essentials — an optional shortcut into the "For any school" templates (a welcome handbook, policies, teaching toolkits) — or just tap "Go to your school" to land on your home screen.
Inviting members and other setup tasks live on the Getting Started card in your user menu (open it by tapping your avatar on Home, or by swiping in from the right edge). The card stays until every task is done. Tap any item to jump straight to the right place — for example, "Add a hero image" opens the dedicated Hero settings screen.
Discover More
Below the main checklist, you'll find a few bonus items in a Discover More section. These are not required, but they help you get more out of C3NTR:
- Pin a section — Feature a tag on the home screen for quick access.
- Add a featured image — Give your top articles a cover image.
- Set a featured term — Highlight a glossary term on the home screen.
- Add a video — Upload or link a video to an article.
Each item links directly to the right place in the app so you can complete it in a few taps.
