Search
4 min readSearch finds articles, glossary terms, and announcements across your entire school library. It combines keyword matching with on-device AI that understands meaning, not exact words.
Open search
Tap the centre button in the navigation bar. The search overlay covers the screen with a search bar positioned above the keyboard. Start typing to see results.
You can open search from any tab. It works the same way everywhere.
Two search methods
C3NTR uses two search methods together to give you the best results.
- Keyword search — Matches words in titles and body content. If you type "stance", it finds every article and term that contains that word.
- Semantic search — Understands meaning. If you type "how to stand properly", it can find articles about stances, posture, and footwork even if they do not contain your exact words. This is powered by a small AI model that runs entirely on your device.
Both methods run at the same time. Keyword matches appear first, followed by semantic matches if they add value.
Semantic search runs entirely on your device. Your search queries are never sent to any server. Your privacy is fully protected.
Filter results
Below the search bar you will see filter chips:
- All — Shows everything.
- Articles — Shows only articles.
- Glossary — Shows only terms.
- Updates — Shows only announcements.
Tap a chip to narrow your results. Tap it again to go back to showing everything.
AI related results
When your keyword search returns few matches but the semantic model finds relevant content, you will see an "AI found related results" section. These are articles and terms that relate to your query by meaning rather than exact words.
Matching keywords in results are highlighted so you can see why each result appeared.
Recents and shortcuts
Before you start typing, the search overlay shows helpful shortcuts:
- Recent searches — Your last few search queries, saved for quick access. Tap one to search again.
- Popular in your school — The top five articles by view count. A good starting point if you are new.
- Recently viewed — The last five items you opened from search results.
Offline search
Search works without an internet connection. When you are offline, keyword search still finds cached articles and terms on your device.
Semantic search needs the AI model to be loaded at least once while online. After that first load, it works offline too. If the model is not available, search falls back to keyword-only mode and shows a small banner to let you know.
Try searching with natural questions like "how do I improve my guard" instead of single keywords. The semantic search handles these well.
