What's On & calendar
What's On is your school's shared calendar. Post class schedules, gradings, closures and one-off events. Members see them on the Today tab and on a month calendar, and they can add events to their iPhone Calendar with one tap.
Your school's calendar
The Today tab is the fifth tab in the bottom bar. It's a single scroll that reads top to bottom:
- Today — a carousel of events happening today, coloured by type. Hidden when there's nothing on today.
- This week and Next week — upcoming events grouped by week.
- Announcements — your posted announcements, grouped by recency.
The top-right of the Today tab has two glass buttons — a calendar icon opens the full month calendar, and a + icon opens the compose menu for a new event or announcement. On the month calendar, tap any day to see its events; admins can tap Add event on this day from the same sheet to create an event pre-filled with the tapped date.
Creating an event
Open the Today tab and tap the + button. Choose Event.
Pick a type: Class, Grading, Event, or Closure. The type sets the colour on the calendar and the wording of the push notification.
Add a title, an optional description (Markdown is supported), a start and end time, and an optional location.
Set who the event is for under Visibility — a minimum role, a minimum grade, or specific instructors.
Tap Create event. Published events send a push notification to eligible members.
Draft events are hidden from members until you flip Published on. Use draft mode if you want to line up a few events in advance without notifying members.
To delete an event, open it in the editor and tap the red bin icon in the top-right. Deletion removes the event from every member's calendar and can't be undone.
Recurring events
The event editor has a Repeats section with four preset pills and a Custom option:
- None — a one-off event.
- Daily — repeats every day, starting at the event time.
- Weekly on [weekday] — repeats on the same weekday as the start date.
- Monthly on the [Xth] — repeats on the same day each month.
- Custom… — opens a sheet for finer control: every N days/weeks/months, specific weekdays, and an optional end date or occurrence count.
A preview under the builder shows the next five occurrences so you can confirm the rule before saving.
Edits to a recurring event apply to the whole series. To cancel a single occurrence, create a Closure event on the same day.
Editing an event
Tap any day on the month calendar to open the day details. For events you can edit, an Edit button appears next to Add to calendar. Tap it to open the same editor you used to create the event.
- School leaders and admins can edit any event in the school.
- Instructors can edit only events they created themselves.
Time zones for travelling students
Every school has a time zone. By default it's the time zone of whoever created the school — set during the setup wizard. You can change it any time from Settings › School details › Time zone.
Events use the school's time zone for expansion and display. That means:
- A weekly class at 10:00 London time stays at 10:00 London time — even across daylight saving changes.
- Students travelling abroad see the event in the school's time zone with a small note showing their local time, like 10:00 · Europe/London (your local 11:00).
- Individual events can override the school's zone if you run a travelling workshop in a different country.
All-day events float — they show on the same calendar day regardless of where the viewer is. That's right for closure days and multi-day events that span a full day.
Adding events to your iPhone Calendar
Members can add any event to their iPhone Calendar with one tap:
Tap a day on the calendar to open the day detail sheet.
Tap Add to calendar on any event. The first time, iOS asks permission to add events to your calendar. Grant it.
The event appears in your default iPhone Calendar, in the school's time zone, with the title, time and location filled in.
If you denied permission by mistake, open the Settings app › C3NTR › Calendars and turn it back on.
The Up next home widget
There is an Up next widget for the Home Builder. It shows the next event coming up in a sliding window you control — 1 to 30 days. Add it from Home edit mode, and adjust the window using the slider in the widget's settings.
FAQ
Who can create events?
School leaders, school admins, and instructors can create events. Instructors can edit events they created themselves. School leaders and admins can edit any event in the school.
Are events available on every plan?
Events are available from the School plan upwards. Seed-plan schools see the Updates tab without the calendar surfaces.
Do members get a reminder the day of the event?
Yes. A daily reminder is sent for events starting in the next 24 hours. Members can mute these in their notification settings.
Can I run a recurring event on the third Friday of every month?
Not yet. Recurring rules today support "every N days / weeks / months" and "on specific weekdays". If you need positional monthly rules, let us know and we can add them.
Can I cancel just one week of a recurring class?
Not directly — recurring edits apply to the whole series. Post a Closure event for that specific day to communicate the change to members.
